1848 Karl Marx publishes The Communist Manifesto.
1863 President Abraham Lincoln (R) signs the National Currency Act into law. Another step in the centralization of power for the U.S.
1951 The 22nd Amendment is approved and becomes law. It limits holding the office of the presidency to two terms.
1985 Corazon Aquino wins the Philippine presidency away from U.S supported dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.
1993 New York's World Trade Center is bombed by terrorists. Six Middle Eastern men were later convicted in this act of vengeance for the Palestinian people.
1997 Democratic fund-raisers "explicitly sold invitations to White House coffees with President Clinton" (The New York Times, 2/26/97). Clinton (D) even authorized overnight stays in the Lincoln bedroom in exchange for generous contributions to the Democratic Party.
