| 1996 | The "Freedom to Farm Act" of 1995 passes that will eliminate some government support for farmers and price fixing of agriculture products (such as milk) -- maybe, but if so, only temporarily. A watershed change in farm policy? Not to worry - subsequent congressional acts quickly over corrected any reforms in subsidizing of farmers that this bill was supposed to provide.

| 2006 | In Massachusetts legislators passed a bill requiring all citizens to have health insurance. Gov. Romney, a true "Conservative", signed it on April 12. The cost of the plan was estimated at $1 billion, about as much as the state spends on the uninsured.
