1971 Dr. Stephen Schneider, who spent two decades at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, in today's issue of Science magazine, warns that "an increase by a factor of 4 in the equilibrium dust concentration in the global atmosphere, which cannot be ruled out as a possibility within the next century, could decrease the mean surface temperature by as much as 3.5 degrees K [6.3 degrees F]. If sustained over a period of several years, such a temperature decrease could be sufficient to trigger an ice age!" Schneider is well known for his alternate prediction of Global Warming. 1973 Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was established this month to fight the "Drug War". It, of course, failed miserably but does provide a great number of jobs and efficiently disposes of taxpayer money.
