1945 | "House Unamerican Activities Committee" (HUAC) made a permanent House committee - under John Rankin until 1946. [Government always has to have a war to fight. It keeps the citizens attention while more important activity goes on.]
1987 | President Reagan (R) produced the first trillion-dollar budget in U.S. history. [Just think how monstrous it would have been had he not been making all those drastic government cutbacks!]
2002 | At a Town Hall Meeting this date with Citizens Of Ontario, California, (also in a previous interview on 12/4/01 aired on CNN) President Bush (R) says he saw the 9/11 attack on TV: "Anyway, I was sitting there, and my Chief of Staff -- well, first of all, when we walked into the classroom, I had seen this plane fly into the first building. There was a TV set on. And you know, I thought it was pilot error and I was amazed that anybody could make such a terrible mistake" (Originally this material was on the White House web site but has now been pulled). Only one problem -- "There was no film footage of the first attack until at least the following day" . . .
