1972 | P. L. 92-512 known as the "Federal-State Tax Collection Act" (Revenue Sharing Act) enacted. Provides that: "after 1 January 1974 if two or more States request it of the US government, and at the option of the individual States, all State taxes may be collected and administered by the federal government."

1975 | The Supreme Court rules that teachers could spank students if the students were told in advance of the behavior that would warrant such punishment.

1978 | The Women's Army Corps (WAC) deactivated and its members integrated into their basic branches.

1994 | "Improving America's Schools Act of 1994". Among other things, it "Declares it to be U.S. policy: (1) that a high-quality education for all individuals and a fair and equal opportunity to attain it are a societal good and moral imperative; and (2) to expand the title I program over FY 1996 through 1999 by increasing funding by a specified minimum amount each fiscal year and increasing the percentage of eligible children served, with the intent of serving them all by FY 2004." [It sure looks like our Education problem was solved here and the media completely missed it!]
