Historical Political Events for February 10

Year	Event
1258	Battle of Baghdad - Mongols overrun Baghdad, burning it to the ground and killing large numbers of citizens (estimates range from 10,000 to 800,000). [Sadly, the Mongols are there to this day -- trying to figure out how to leave without a major disaster erupting!]
1763	The Treaty of Paris ended the French-Indian War. France ceded Canada to England and gave up all her territories in the New World except New Orleans and a few scattered islands.
1904	Russia and Japan declared war on each other.
1947	In Everson v. Board of Education of Ewing Township, 330 U.S. 1, the Supreme Court rules that any attempts by state governments to impose religious practices, the establishment of a religion, is forbidden.
1967	The 25th Amendment, ratified this date, clarifies questions of presidential succession.
2005	North Korea announces that it has developed nuclear weapons for its self-defense, and suspends participation in multi-nation talks to discuss its arms program. (Reuters)
