| 1692 | The Infamous Glencoe Massacre: The Glencoe Massacre was an order from the Master of Stair, Joint-Secretary of State for Scotland for the new King, William of Orange. Thirty-eight MacDonalds from the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by the Campbells, the guests who had accepted their hospitality, on the grounds that the MacDonalds had been slow to pledge their allegiance.

| 1818 | THE INDEPENDENCE OF CHILE WAS PROCLAIMED. San Martín's troops defeated a royalist army from Peru at Maipú, thus securing the independence of Chile. San Martín started to organize an army to liberate Peru.

| 1874 | American military landed in Hawaii to protect Americans during coronation of new king, February 12-20. The landing was requested by the Hawaiian government, or at least by the faction favoring the coronation of the new king.
