1593 After the English Parliament has passed an act making nonattendance at Church of England services in favor of Puritan “Coventicles” a felony, Henry Barrow, John Penry, and John Greenwood are executed for sedition in supporting democratic Congregational church government. 2000 Today's Example of a Most Interesting Government Purchase (Daily list is at the FBO): Insight magazine announces that the U.S. State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has issued a $22 million contract (worth $500 million potentially) to DynCorp Aerospace Operations (UK) Ltd., a subsidiary of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), to "re-establish police, justice and prison functions in postconflict Iraq."
