0632 Death of Prophet Muhammad.
1847 The British Parliament enacts legislation limiting working hours of women and children aged 13 to 18 to 10 per day.
1861 Tennessee secedes from the Union.
1906 "Antiquities Act" becomes law. This obscure law is the stated basis for the "taking" of millions of acres of Western private land by the Clinton administration -- for the pleasure of other voters. The original purpose of that act was to protect archaeological sites.
1925 The U.S. Supreme Court upholds the conviction of a man under the New York Criminal Anarchy Act of 1902. The Court rules in Gitlow v. New York, that Benjamin Gitlow's pamphlet "The Left Wing Manifesto" which called for "mass strikes", "expropriation of the bourgeoisie", and the establishment of a "dictatorship of the proletariat" is "the language of direct incitement" and therefore not protected by the Bill of Rights.
1967 The USS Liberty is attacked for over 2 hours in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel, using rockets, torpedoes, and napalm. 34 crew members die and 171 were wounded. Details of the attack are hushed up by both the United States and Israel. Something is not quite right here.
2006 Former Tamimi Global Executive Charged With Paying Kickbacks, Witness Tampering, Money Laundering Conspiracy, Making False Statement, with regard to Iraq contracts - Kellogg, Brown & Root Services, Inc. (KBR). $21.8 million dollars or so.
2006 Today's Example of a Most Interesting Government Purchase: GMA Selected to Provide U.S. Army with Ultra Light-Weight Camouflage Net System 'ULCANS' -Potential Contract Value $1.73 Billion Over Ten Years. The camouflage nets offer improved concealment for vehicles and field positions by masking visual, thermal, near infra-red and radar signatures.
